JEAN-DANIEL ALLANCHE (1940 Sfax – 2015 Paris)

The molecular Studio of Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Jean-Daniel Allanche was born in Sfax in Tunisia into a modest family of the Jewish community.
He arrives in Lyon in 1958 to study at the National Institute of Applied Sciences.
Naturalized in 1970, he teaches physics at the University of Paris VII as well as ten years in Africa.

In parallel, he practices music, writing and painting. His pictorial work will never be shown in his lifetime. Apart from a hundred paintings on paper and on canvas, it is on the walls of his places of life that he likes to paint.

It is especially in his apartment on the rue des Ciseaux, a sixth floor without elevator 100 m from the church Saint-Germain-des-Prés that he will create.

For over thirty years, Jean-Daniel Allanche will paint and repaint walls, floors and ceilings of his apartment.
His pictorial universe will be complemented over time by the accumulation of many heterogeneous objects and African sculptures transforming his place of life into a global work of art.

My painting is like dust that keeps the memory of life. JDA
